Introduction
In this section you will find useful information
for translators and others who work in the field of translation
and bilingualism.
The Welsh Language Board provides support for anyone wishing
to operate bilingually - visit its website, or contact the Linkline – 0845
6076070. For guidance on how to introduce the Welsh language
into the your workplace/business please refer to the Advice section
on their website.
Canolfan Bedwyr is located at the Univeristy of Wales Bangor and
it is here that the Welsh spellchecker, CySill is developed as
well as other on-line language aids, CysGair and Y Termiadur. Visit
the Canolfan Bedwyr website for information on current projects.
Please refer to English/Welsh
Terminology for developments in this
field.
A list of Basic Bibliography for Translation Units is provided.
Translators and others who have been compiling vocabularies are
welcome to contribute to our lists of terms or names. Lists will
be included under Vocabularies. As a starting point we include
a vocabulary which Berwyn Prys Jones has compiled over the years.
If you register with welsh-termau-cymraeg you will be able to
join the Welsh language daily discussion of terms and access its
archive.
In due course we hope to compile a comprehensive database on the
location of simultaneous translation equipment, which will
include detailed information about various equipment and hiring
terms.
[If you are considering buying simultaneous translation equipment,
contact the two companies named in the section who provide systems
throughout Wales and further afield.
We have also included Background Bibliography which is a valuable
source of information about volumes and articles on translation
and bilingualism.
Your contribution to this collection of valuable resources would
be welcomed. Please send
us any information you might have on language
aids, publications or articles.
